Let's get Motivated!

In March 2020, I was very active teaching classes and working out with a Personal Trainer. When COVID-19 hit us, at first, I thought this would be a temporary issue and that I would be back to my routine soon. This month, August 2020, marks five months of not teaching group classes on-site, though I offered a few free classes to my veterans and friends.

Maybe for some participants, switching from actual training to a virtual platform will require intrinsic motivation, which means engaging in exercise activities for the inherent pleasure and experience that comes from the engagement itself.

For example, with all this extra time on my hands, I decided to learn how to play the guitar my son gave me when he left for college. It’s been sitting there for over 10 years, and I have spent all of that time looking at it and wanting to learn! My cousin Miriam gave me a teach-yourself book and CD for me to learn, but this method was not easy for me. So, I got a few estimates for beginner classes online. One company offered a one-on-one class that you could sign up for only after an interview with the instructor. During this interview, he quickly learned how clueless I was about the guitar, but that I loved music and had that intrinsic motivation. We scheduled a weekly class to learn the parts of the guitar, chords, and how to read music. So far, I’ve taken four classes and have also learned to tune the guitar—something I thought was for experts! I am so excited with what I have learned so far and now have the confidence that I’ll be playing the notes flawlessly very soon.

Just like those guitar lessons, with the 12-week Transformative Yoga Class, you will learn the basics movements of breath, body, and mind. Homework and extra information are needed for you to get into the flow, but there is nothing like learning from and practicing with a passionate and experienced teacher!

This can be challenging if you are new to Yoga practice, as taking live virtual classes is not as easy as it seems! When taking the actual class, you follow the teacher as best as you can. In a virtual class, you may still be learning how to get the perfect viewing angle on your phone or laptop—and if there are several participants—you may get lost in the process. Also, waiting until the last moment to join the class may result in missing the warmup session, which is something I consider to be unsafe! If this all sounds familiar, I would like to offer you a one-on-one (or one-on-two) transformative Yoga class!
